The butterfly's love of flowers

My first Chinese poem.



 I love poetry and love researching poetry. To be honest it was the title that drew my attention.  I like butterflies 🦋 

Why oh why did l wait to look at Chinese poetry. China has such a long, interesting history. 

From what l have read this poem is thought to be around 1000 years old. At the time there were 3 types of poetry: fu a style between poetry and prose, pianwen a tonal style and baguwen an 8 leg essay.

This poem is about Spring yet there is a sense of melancholy in the second stanza.

Being the age that it is it would have been spoken, and, apparently back then the poems were spoken with music. Now wouldn't that be treat to see.

Su Shi is the poet and Saga Ringmat translated the poem. What is current Chinese poetry like? If you are from China please leave me a comment. 

I'm so happy that l have found this poetry. It makes me want to find more and please let me know about the poetry from your country.

  It started with a happy bus driver singing along to the radio. Then followed a fruitless search to find a theatre. Just between you and me l am useless at reading maps and have a lousy sense of direction. So then l gave up and walked towards the library to see the 2 authors in conversation. Phillipa Kaye and Jodi Gibson are in the photo below.  What an interesting talk. Both authors have books out currently. Phillipa Kaye's book is Girl Detectives Just Wanna Have Fun: A Birdie Mealing Mystery. Phillipa is standing on the left. Jodi Gibson's book is called Reinventing Emily Brown. Jodi is standing on the right. They asked each other questions about their books and took questions from the audience. They went through the process of writing, editing and publishing. Have any of you read Tolstoy? Do you have a favourite?  This is a very interesting documentary that l found this week. He was an interesting man and led an interesting life. He is regarding as one of the greatest Russian writers and l think it is a well deserved titile. What do you think?

We have a release date for the next Robert Galbraith books. I don't want to wait until September,  but, I'm going to have to.  Do you like these books? Have any of you seen the Strike series?. And, am l going to wait even longer because I'm here in Australia?  I know we wait longer for films? Can someone explain why to me? Leave me a comment.
